Chelsea’s Law Impact Reports

Using San Diego County as a geographic snapshot, the 2011 Chelsea’s Law Report prepared by Chelsea’s Light Foundation examines the number and nature of sex crimes against children being prosecuted in San Diego County in the one-year period since Chelsea’s Law (AB184) became California law. There is no retroactive element to Chelsea’s Law so in order for the statute to be utilized by any California district attorney, the crime must have occurred after September 9, 2010.

September 9, 2012 marked the second year since Chelsea’s Law was signed into California law. The 2012 Chelsea’s Law Report expanded its scope to include prosecution statistics in both San Diego and Orange Counties, giving a clearer indication of the impact Chelsea’s Law is having on our 9.3 million California children.
